There are many fans of the hit series “24.” Since Jack Bauer hit the screen in late 2001 and began fighting crime for the citizens of America, people have watched the show in droves. Indeed, while on the air, 24 became one of the most popular TV shows of all-time. Millions more people tuned on with each passing season to see what Jack was up to next.

Working for C.T.U. (Counter Terrorist Unit), Bauer was faced with many national threats which had to be solved within a 24 hour time-frame. Being in real time was one of the most interesting things about the show, proving not to be just a silly gimmick as some might have thought before actually giving the show a chance.I found some more information here.

As the seasons of 24 progressed, Jack Bauer started to come off as more and more of a superhuman type. This kind of writing caused the show to take a dip in ratings towards the end of its run. It is very possible that by season 6, the show had run its course, even for most of the diehard fans. Thankfully, the final season brought back some of the original atmosphere of the first few seasons, bringing many people back to witness the end of an era.

Was it one season too many on 24? Probably, but at least the final moments were true to the series.

Married With Children was an equally opportunity offender; men, women, minorities, homosexuals, animals, children, religion – nothing was off limits for a joke. The show should be an antonym in the thesaurus for “politically correct”. Peg essentially flipped the bird at the standard notion of what a housewife should be, Al refused to even act like his dreams weren’t broken and his life wasn’t pathetic. Nobody white washed the peach faced Kelly being a tart, the show’s endless parade of female eye candy, or Bud being anything but a smart aleck boy hooked on porn and blow up dolls. The couple next door – Marci and Steve, or later, Marci and Jefferson – represented that couple everyone knows who spins their wheels trying to stay satisfied with each other and a step ahead of the game.

Married With Children grabbed our attention because it refused to conform to the standard blueprint of television family programs. It refused to be sterile, it refused to be fake. It refused to insult its viewers by presenting yet another canned-laugh show. For these reasons Married With Children was totally American in it’s essence; whatever it had to do, it did it, like it or not.

Glee, the quiet dark-horse, in prime time television that quietly went from being a rather marginalized show about a group of high school misfits that share one thing in common, their love of singing and dancing in their high school Glee Club, to a world-wide movement of self-regarded Gleeks.

Glee was an unassuming show that just took off from the start gaining favorable reviews from critics and fans alike, the characters (who are the show’s actual singers) come together during their time in the Glee club and belt out Top 40 hits to the delight of fans, who in their own homes, sing along with the kids. The show has become so popular that many artists who refused to allow their catalogue of music to be used during the show are now begging that the producers of the show to allow the kids sing their songs, some for free. They famously did renditions of songs by Lady Gaga, Madonna, Jay-Z, Journey, Coldplay, Billy Joel, and Rihanna. So enormous is this show’s appeal that they have released their musical performances in the way of DVDs and CDs. Glee is doing better, commercially, than some of the artists whose music they are covering. On May 16, 2011, the cast’s performance of the Journey classic, “Don’t Stop Believin” received platinum certification. So, what is your favorite Glee song of all time?More info here: Video: Glee’s Harry Shrum, Jr. Wants to Sing on the Show

Fox is known for its groundbreaking original series and no more so than in the realm of animation. From its beginnings, Fox knew animation was a way around sensors and expensive acting budgets…here are a few of our favorite Fox animated shows of all time. Be warned, though, some of these are no longer being aired so check your Direct channels for reruns…
Family Guy: Anyone who’s ever watched TV has heard of Family Guy and this once-dead series now runs regularly on TBS. It started on Fox, though, and Peter Griffin was never funnier than when he was creating havoc and making enemies with the Christian Coalition.
The Simpsons: Perhaps the most well-known television show of all time, The Simpsons has been running for over two decades. Bart, Homer, Marge and Lisa (and Maggie!) are still burning up the airwaves and have spawned loads of memorabilia, fan clubs and even a feature film.
Futurama: A favorite of the nerd set, Futurama is a space show set in the distant future. It’s got aliens and tons of adult humor and you can sometimes can catch it airing on the Cartoon Network.
And this doesn’t even cover all the new groundbreaking TV shows that will be show casing in the fall. Check back often because I plan to cover those in the not-to-distant future.

Long after Arrested Development had been cancelled, my boyfriend insisted upon me watching it. Before this I had only seen one episode and even though it was out-of-context for me I enjoyed what I saw. However, at the time I was interested in many other activities and found little time to pursue the show any further.

Years later my boyfriend asked me if I had ever seen the show and his flabbergasted response to my “No, I haven’t” prompted us to beginning watching the series immediately.

It felt solid and real, without sacrificing its strong wit and balance-of-action to a false “realism.” They brilliantly worked with a video technique seldom seen in American television, supplementing video of the speaking characters with video of what they are describing or alluding to (such as Lucille Bluth quickly spraying, and seemingly without fear or concern, a street vendor approaching her car).

It is a shame when a high-quality television show is cancelled abruptly without a conclusion to the story. Perhaps a movie with surface one day to finish the job, and this might be the right path for the show (Serenity). Or, perhaps it will be picked-up by another channel, as Futurama had.

In the realm of science fiction shows, Fringe stands out from all other shows on the air waves today. The storyline and hidden meanings within the show is what sets it apart from other shows within its genre. The writers for the show definitely know what it takes to produce a good, long-lasting series that will keep viewers coming back for more each week.
The show doesn’t focus on one particular activity. Instead, it revolves around all genre specific activities such as paranormal, quantum physics, time travel, parallel universes, etc. Fringe takes all of those issues and wraps them neatly within the storyline which includes some of the shows characters bouncing from the main universe to the parallel universe. You may not see each activity within one specific episode but, you will see all of them throughout the entire series.
With the award winning artistic writing, the outstanding acting and familiar locations both in the main universe and the parallel universe, Fringe is a “can’t miss” show that you will love. Next time you watch it, take notice of the image Glyphs at the beginning and end of each commercial break. They hold hidden meanings that are only evident to the true Fringe fan.

The Simpsons have now been on the air so long it is hard to remember network television without them. One way to think of it is that they have been around as the Fox Network itself, and trying to think of TV without Fox is also getting more and more difficult. Personally I find one of the most amazing parts of The Simpsons is the richness of the world that they inhabit. Springfield has a population of secondary characters that are almost as familiar to us as the leads in many shows.Get more information here. Characters like Mayor Quimby, Nelson the bully or Principal Skinner might only appear briefly but they have a rich background and fully developed character.

My personal favorite secondary character in The Simpsons is Comic Book Guy. Comic Book Guy is a delicious characterization of every conceivable fanboy stereotype. His character is middle aged, obese, ponytailed and scraggly bearded, dresses in too tight clothing and is an admitted virgin. Though he is intelligent and educated he is obsessed with the minutiae of his preoccupation and can discuss little else. Comic Book Guy has turned his fetish into a business; he owns a Springfield comic book store named Android’s Dungeon. Comic Book Guys discussions with the stores customers are filled with sarcasm and a condescending attitude that reeks of a belief that they are not worthy of buying his wares.

Recently Comic Book Guy even made a cameo appearance on The Cleveland Show. This was a nice tribute from that shows creator; Seth Mcfarlane. The plot of the episode centered on Comic Con and it was a perfect locale for Comic Book Guy to show up and than deliver his catch phrase, this time sarcastically droning “Worst cameo ever”.
